At our steam locomotive
seminars there is an opportunity to do so. Because then this
childhood dream can become reality for a weekend. Within the
framework of these seminars, railway friends learn interesting
facts about the history and technology of the steam locomotive
during lectures by the steam locomotive personnel of the
Eisenbahn-Tradition e.V., and are practically familiarized with
the handling of locomotive 78 468.
Each seminar is limited to a maximum of 12 participants!

Welcome at the Lengerich-Hohne depot, presentation of the
participants and the association.

Start of heating of the steam locomotive
78 468. Crush wood, load and heat the boiler.
Noon
Introduction to the history and technology of the steam
locomotive with explanations on the real locomotive. Detailed
explanation of the function of a steam locomotive.

Joint "train driver lunch"

Tasks of the locomotive personnel before and during the
journey (theory and examples from practice). Testing of the
locomotive for operational readiness.

Coffee break with "roster line-up".

Get
to know the steam locomotive in practice with trips in the
depot area. (The participants themselves stand at the
controller)

Taking water, remove slag, load coal, oiling and checking the
locomotive on the pit. Parking of the locomotive for a night's
rest.

2nd seminar day

8.45 a.m.
Welcome at the Lengerich-Hohne depot. Special train
journeys, e.g. on the Tecklenburger Nordbahn between Osnabrück
and Mettingen. Alternating ride of the participants on the
driver's cab of the locomotive. Here, the participants
themselves reach for the coal shovel and get to know the
cooperation between train driver and heater.
When
the participants travel and when they leave is already
determined on the 1st day of the seminar during the coffee
break in a "roster".
